Whole Abdomen · Pelvis · KUB · High-resolution color Doppler by consultant radiologist

Clinical Overview

We offer high-resolution ultrasound imaging covering abdominal organs, renal tract (KUB), pelvis, and echocardiography. Our sonography suites provide clear visualization of liver parenchyma, gallbladder calculi, renal stones, pelvic anatomy, and cardiac function under consultant radiologist supervision.

Preparation guidance: For whole abdomen scans, 6 hours of overnight or daytime fasting is required. For pelvic and KUB ultrasound, attend with a full urinary bladder (drink 3–4 glasses of water 45–60 minutes prior and avoid urinating).

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is fasting required for an abdominal ultrasound?

Fasting ensures the gallbladder is fully distended and reduces stomach/bowel gas that might obstruct the view of the pancreas, aorta, and liver.

Why do I need a full bladder for a pelvic or KUB ultrasound?

A distended bladder acts as an acoustic window, allowing sound waves to clearly penetrate and image the uterus, ovaries, prostate, and bladder wall.

Are ultrasound scans painful or harmful?

Not at all. Ultrasound uses harmless high-frequency sound waves with zero ionizing radiation, making it completely safe for everyone, including during pregnancy.

Important. This page describes what a test measures and costs. It is not medical advice, and a result needs a doctor to interpret it alongside your symptoms and history. If you have severe symptoms — chest pain, breathlessness, heavy bleeding, fainting or a very high fever — do not wait for a test. Seek emergency care or call 112 immediately.
